Vittorio Mutti
Violin maker
–
Vittorio Mutti was a pupil of Carlo Schiavi in Cremona. He created several experimental models during his early period, some featuring backs and ribs carved from a single block. Later, he produced rather nondescript instruments based on Stradivari models, which had transparent, lightly coloured varnish; some were unpurfled. He was known to have used maple wood for the bassbar. Over 100 instruments were completed, characterized by golden brown varnish and a full high arch. Autore Mutti Vittorio / Castiglione delle Stiviere / Mantova 1949 -/ Violino 93.
