Natale's son (b.1948), the last of the Carletti line to make violins, took up the craft in the 1960s while also teaching mathematics, and later taught at violin-making schools in Milan, Bisignano, and Pieve di Cento; his own work follows the family's Bolognese tradition running back through Fiorini and Pollastri to his father and grandfather.
