Lars Jorgen Rudolph Olsen apprenticed to Hjorth & Sons in Copenhagen from 1904 to 1909. He worked for Otto Möckel in Dresden from 1909 to 1913 and briefly in Berlin and Amsterdam for Edward Vandermeer and Max Möller, where he studied bow making. He emigrated to the USA in 1913 and worked in New York for John Marken. In 1914, he established himself independently on Third Avenue in New York. He created copies of Stradivari, Guarneri, and Lupot using oil and spirit varnishes. Over 45 instruments were branded: 'Rudolph Olsen', and bows were branded: RUDOLPH OLSEN.
