Harvey Fairbanks
(1899 – 1977)
Harvey Fairbanks trained as a violinist in New York. He moved to Binghamton and began making violins with Arthur Howe around 1940. His violins were based on Stradivari and Guarneri models. He specialized in violas, primarily of the Tertis model. He used a light-colored oil varnish of his own formulation. Fairbanks completed over 40 violins, 20 violas, and one cello.
