Marcel Aerts
Violin maker
(1910 – 1976)
Marcel Aerts was the son of René Aerts. He studied under Emile Jeandat in Mirecourt and Emile Laurent in Brussels. In 1932, he emigrated to Los Angeles with his father and began working at the Douglas Aircraft company in Long Beach, California. He continued to create instruments as a hobby and earned a fine reputation as a repairer and restorer. He made beautifully finished copies of classical masters and used the same label as his father.
