Giuseppe Sciale, a Roman born around 1765 to a father named Pietro, is first recorded as a "chitarraro" in 1814, working from no. 91, Via del Corso — the same address he still held in 1842, by then producing not only violins and guitars but wind instruments and harps as well. His wife, Teresa Coccia, and their son Vincenzo, born in 1799 and himself a chitarraro, are registered alongside him.
