Giuseppe Sciale

Giuseppe Sciale, a Roman born around 1765 to a father named Pietro, is first recorded as a "chitarraro" in 1814, working from no. 91, Via del Corso — the same address he still held in 1842, by then producing not only violins and guitars but wind instruments and harps as well. His wife, Teresa Coccia, and their son Vincenzo, born in 1799 and himself a chitarraro, are registered alongside him. Two of his real guitars survive with firm dates, 1835 and 1838, the former now in the Museo Nazionale degli Strumenti Musicali di Roma; a labelled example elsewhere reads "Giuseppe Sciale / Fece in Roma Anno 1832."
