Nicolas Joseph Harmand (1793-1862), son of Louis Harmand and Marie Marianne Pierre, had a son of his own, Charles Nicolas Harmand, born 11 May 1826, who likewise became a bowmaker. It is possible Nicolas Joseph trained first as a violin maker before specializing in bows, working alongside an elder brother, Joseph Harmand.
