Walter Hamma was the son and successor of Fridolin Hamma (I). He trained at Mittenwald under Aschauer from 1933 to 1935 and worked for Ferdinand Jaura in Munich and Caressa & Français in Paris. After taking over the Hamma firm in Stuttgart upon his father's retirement in 1959, he expanded its business and reputation, helping to rebuild it after it was destroyed in WWII.
