Girolamo Trucco
Violin maker
(b. c. 1820)
Girolamo Trucco possibly was a pupil of Rastelli and produced very undisciplined work. The outline was loose and asymmetrical, featuring deeply incurving bouts. It had a medium to low arch, a broad edge with prominent corners, and long, low-set, sloping soundholes. The scroll was neatly turned with a large eye. The varnish was red-brown, of good quality but thin in texture. Materials used were rather poor, likely of local origin. He also made guitars and harps. Trucco operated in Savona in 1840.
