Pierre Audinot
Violin maker
(1893 – 1971)
Pierre Audinot was the son and pupil of Victor Audinot and the father of Jacques. He received the prize for best young luthier in Mirecourt in 1907 and 1908. In 1913, he moved to Paris with his father, where he worked for Albert Caressa from 1921 to 1926 and became the foreman of the Millant workshop in 1931. Audinot was wounded during the First World War and later rejoined the family shop on rue Truffaut in Paris, leaving in 1934 to work with Millant-Deroux on rue de Rome. He was awarded diplomas at the Hague in 1949 and in Liège in 1954. Although he demonstrated fine workmanship on classical models, he devoted most of his time to restoration work, making violins with his label rare.
