Paolo Guadagnini (1908–1942) was the last of the family's roughly 250-year unbroken line of violin makers, working alongside his father Francesco in Turin and exhibiting three violins at the 1937 National Competitive Exhibition marking Stradivari's bicentenary — his workshop address is recorded as No. 15, Via S. Teresa, the same as his father's. His labels and brands closely follow Francesco's own, and his varnish, pale on the earliest instruments, deepened over time to a red-orange hue. His independent output was small: he was drafted early in the Second World War and died on 28 December 1942 aboard the troopship *Galilea*, carrying the Giulia Division, cutting short what little separate career he had managed to establish.
