Carl Friedrich Hopf was active from 1862 in Brunndobra. He was the first maker of the 'Hopfgeigen' or Hopf model for the violin, which was subsequently utilized by several generations of his family and many commercial manufacturers. His work featured fine craftsmanship with high-quality golden-brown varnish. The instruments were branded internally: 'C. F. Hopf. '.
