Andre Granier
(1881 – 1924)
Andre Granier was the son and successor of Edmond Granier. He trained with Brugere and Louis Bazin in Mirecourt. In 1922, he established Granier Luthier in Marseilles with his brother Denis. He was a maker of violins and bows, utilizing classical models and good oil varnish in various tints. Some instruments were made by employees. His branding appeared beneath the tailpiece and fingerboard, as well as on the ribs below the endpin and on the pegbox: 'Granier'. He produced good bows on a personal model, branded: GRANIER à MARSEILLE. His workshop produced instruments labelled: Granier, Luthier /14 Rue Paradis-Marseille / Fait en avril 1928. No. 58, Granier, Luthier / 14 Rue Paradis-Marseille, and Granier, Luthier / Marseille. Année 1931. Instruments from the workshop were labelled: Granier, Luthier / Marseille. Année 1923.
