Dominique Poirson "Justin"
Bow maker
(1851 – 1925)
Dominique Poirson was a bow maker who trained in Paris with Nicolas Maire starting in 1865. He worked for J. B. Vuillaume until Vuillaume's death in 1875, then joined the Gand and Bernardel firm before establishing himself independently in 1880. Poirson used a Voirin-inspired model, and while his production varied in quality, some good bows exist, particularly from his early career. He was branded: POIRSON A PARIS. Poirson was murdered in 1925 in his very diminished lodgings.
