Giacinto Santagiuliana
Violin maker
(d. 1830)
Giacinto Santagiuliana was the son and pupil of Gaetano Santagiuliana. He generally used Stradivari models with a flat arch that were not highly refined. The varnish was a thin chippy orange-red. He often utilized local materials, particularly Tuscan 'oppio' field maple, which was usually fairly plain. The scrolls were rounded and concentric, notable for their very slender chamfer and generally soft abraded finish. He produced fine cellos and double basses.
