Riccardo Genovese
Violin maker
(1883 – 1935)
Riccardo Genovese was a musician and pupil of Fagnola, active in Montiglio starting in 1922, before working in Lecco from 1927 and returning to Asti in the last year of his life. He began to pursue violin making seriously around 1922, and his early work appears less experienced compared to his output after 1930. Genovese favored a personal interpretation of classical models, incorporating unique construction methods, such as holes in the upper and lower blocks fixed with wooden pins. His instruments were well-made, featuring red varnish with variable texture and transparency, and he signed them internally as Riccardo Genovese / fecit Lecco Anno Domini R G or Riccardo Genovese / fecit Montiglio anno Domini 19..
