Aristide Fontanini was the son and pupil of Andrea Fontanini. He served as the Director of the Violin-making School at Salò from 1946 to 1953. Preoccupied with teaching and research, he made few instruments himself. Instruments that bore his label were credited to Bianchini and Castellotti.
