Gasparo Piattellini

Gasparo Piattellini was the father or brother of Luigi Piatellini (I). He created fine work based on the Gabrielli/Amati model, featuring a medium arch and excellent red-brown varnish. The edges were delicate and refined, with an emphatic fluted channel. The soundholes were somewhat weak, being widely spaced and upright. His cellos were particularly admirable. Manuscript labels included: Gasparo Piattelini Fece / in Firenze Anno Domini, 1738 and Gasparo / Piattelini / fece l'anno 1763.
