He died young, in 1697, shortly before his father. A handful of instruments carry his own label, reading "Giacinto Rugeri detto il Per," continuing a family trade epithet also used by his father and brothers. Stylistically his work leans toward the emerging Stradivari model rather than the Amati tradition his father favoured — modern research (Chiesa, 2014) rates the workmanship as somewhat rougher than his family's best output.
