Bartolomeo Calvarola
Violin maker
(fl. 1753 – 1770)
Bartolomeo Calvarola was born in Torre Baldone and was active in Bergamo. He created a narrow model featuring a pinched arch and extravagantly cut Staineresque soundholes. The workmanship was good, though the style was eccentric, particularly in the extremely slender head. The varnish was of good quality, ranging from golden-yellow to gold-brown. He made his instruments in Bergamo in 1762.
