Pietro Borghi
Violin maker
(1892 – 1957)
Signed instruments by Pietro Borghi are relatively rare, probably because he worked for most of his career for Leandro Bisiach, even after setting up his own workshop in Lugo in 1942. Nonetheless, his work made a visible impression on Giuseppe Lucci and Giuseppe Stefanini, among others. Workmanship is accurate with some personal features, especially the heads. The lovely varnish is usually oil-based and thick, reddish-brown or red in color. His instruments are usually signed or bear handwritten labels.
