Mario Girardi
Violin maker
(1894 – 1980)
Mario Girardi worked in Milan from 1920 and in Trieste from 1930. He exhibited in Cremona in 1937. His early work featured a fine golden red-brown varnish, which declined in quality in later years. Instruments had broad purfling, and some were 'antiqued' with fictitious labels. They were branded externally. Printed labels included: Marius Girardi / fecit Terg este / anno 19.. and Mario Girardi / fece Anno 19..
