René Morizot was the sixth son of Louis Morizot and the last of the dynasty, known as 'Le Gamin'. He was a violin maker and a pupil of Audinot, who was a popular and influential teacher. He established himself independently in Mirecourt in 1933, although he spent five years as a German prisoner of war. He was a prolific maker of Stradivari and Guarneri models, producing violins, violas, and cellos with fine workmanship and materials.
