Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa
Violin maker
(c. 1697 – 1770)
Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa worked in nearby Treviso and was classified as a maker of the Venetian school. His work was neat and charming in the Amati manner, although it was somewhat weaker than that of the finest Venetian makers of the period. The varnish was relatively thin-textured. His introduction to violin making may have come through Pietro Zenatto, who worked in Treviso at the end of the 17th century.
