Pierre Vidoudez

(1907 – 1994)
Pierre Vidoudez was the son and successor of Alfred Vidoudez. He graduated from business school in Geneva before attending the Mittenwald School of Violin Making. He subsequently worked for Boulangeot in Lyons and returned briefly to Geneva before studying repair and restoration with Caressa in Paris. In 1952, he was elected President of the Swiss Violin Makers Group. He co-authored Un Violoncelle de Stradivarius (Geneva, 1940) with Alfred and was the sole author of Georges Chanot (Geneva, 1974) and Quelques considerations sur l'archet et les archetiers Français (Geneva, 1958). He produced very fine copies of classical Cremonese models with good golden-orange varnish and fine bows based on Tourte and Peccatte patterns. Pierre Vidouez / Maître Luthier à Genève P.
