Anton Zwerger II

Anton Zwerger was active in Salzburg from around 1800 and illustrated a fine piccolo violin dated 1810 in Passau, Germany. His work was typical of the Mittenwald style, following the Klotz model, characterized by a medium high arch and thin red-brown varnish. The craftsmanship was very neat and well regulated. Some instruments were branded with 'AZ', and labels included 'Anton Zwerger kurfiirst: Hof and burgl: / Geigenmacher in Salzburg. 18..'
