Max Millant was the brother of Roger Millant. He was the grandson and pupil of S. A. Deroux. He also trained with L. Mougenot, Jacquet, and Gand in Mirecourt, as well as with Harry Dykes in London. His instruments featured fine finishing and rich clear red-orange varnish.
