Ernest E. Wild

Ernest E. Wild was a violinist, violin maker, and repairer who was active in Billings before relocating to San Francisco around 1956. He worked for John Chapman prior to starting his own business, which operated from 1960 to 1983. He completed approximately 15 instruments based on Stradivari and Guarneri models. His own varnish was a golden-brown or red-brown oil, and he later utilized a red spirit varnish.
