Anton Widhalm
(1756 – after 1792)
Anton Widhalm was the third son and pupil of Leopold Widhalm. He worked with G. D. Buchstetter in Regensburg, taking over the business in 1771. His early work was closely modeled on Stainer, but later instruments showed evident Italian influence. He demonstrated fine craftsmanship with dark transparent red-brown varnish applied over a dark ground. His brand was circled by foliage and read: 'AM'.
