Louis Cherpitel
Violin maker
(1877 – 1940)
Louis Cherpitel was the son of Nicolas Emile Cherpitel. He trained in Mirecourt and apprenticed in Paris with Moinel from 1900 to 1903, after which he returned to Mirecourt. He spent another period in Paris from 1927 to 1929 as the manager of the Cuesnon shop before retiring to his hometown. His work included elegant and well-finished Stradivari models.
