Johann Georg Vogler was a violinist and cellist in the Würzburg court orchestra. He was the father of composer Abbé Georg Joseph Vogler. He trained as a luthier in Füssen. His instruments featured large forms and exhibited very finely finished and accurate workmanship. They included a high-arched Stainer model with a thin dark opaque red-brown varnish.
