Lorenz Krumbholz
Violin maker
(1886 – 1942)
Lorenz Krumbholz trained in Markneukirchen. He worked for Otto Möckel in Berlin, Karel Van Der Meer in Amsterdam from 1916, and Joseph Vedral in The Hague from 1917. He established his own business there in 1935. After his death, his widow continued the business, assisted in turn by Johann Stuber and Lorand Racz until 1979. He produced about 30 violins along with a few violas and cellos. His work featured a fine Stradivarian style, as well as some copies in the manner of Scarampella.
