Leonhard Maussiell
Violin maker
(1685 – after 1765)
Leonhard Maussiell's earliest work dated from around 1707 featured very fine craftsmanship on a model reminiscent of both Stainer and Tecchler. It had a deep edge flute with a medium high arch and a tightly wound scroll, which was sometimes substituted with carved lion's heads. The varnish was thick and lustrous, golden-yellow in color. Some pieces were branded with `L. M. ' alongside an imperial eagle. He made it in Nuremberg in 1736.
