Theresia Toth
Violin maker

Theresia Toth studied the violin at Budapest Conservatoire and was the daughter and pupil of Janos Toth. She began making violins under her father's guidance in 1916 and received awards in Venice and Budapest. In 1936, she relocated to Rome, where she remained active until around 1962. She completed over 50 instruments based on Stradivari and Guarneri models, often reflecting her father's style. Her work was known for its accuracy and fine craftsmanship, featuring rich orange oil varnish. She was well regarded as a restorer and repairer.
