Timothy Toomey
Violin maker
(1868 – after 1920)
Timothy Toomey apprenticed as a chemist. He became a professional violinist in 1891 and produced 12 violins and one viola in Bolsover, Derbyshire, up to 1897. From 1920, he established himself as a violin dealer and repairer in Fulham, London. His personal model was derived from Cremonese designs, and he was known for his accurate work using orange-red varnish.
