Johann Reinhart Storck
Violin maker
(c. 1766 – 1789)
Johann Reinhart Storck was the brother and assistant of Georg Dietrich Storck at the workshop 'Au concert de cigognes'. Several addresses are known: Quai Saint-Nicholas, Place du Temple Neuf, and Pont du Corbeau. He handled a general music business that dealt with all instruments, including several harps and keyboards bearing his name. He also worked under his brother's label. Several good violins were recorded, along with a few violas, but no cellos. The varnish used was either dark brown or clear golden-yellow, and some splendid violas are known.
