Johann Christian Süss was one of the finest bow makers of the German school and was sometimes called the 'German Tourte. ' A pupil of Knopf in Dresden, he created models based on Tourte and Voirin. The sticks were stained dark red. Bows were sold under the brand: WEICHOLD.
