Worked in association with John Simpson, below. Presumed to be his brother. The company was known as James and Sons in 1794, when it may be assumed that James' son joined the company, possibly after the death of John. Simpson's later became Puttick and Simpson, which eventually became Philips, the present day Bonham's auction house in London.
