Ernst Reinhold Schmidt
Violin maker
(1857 – 1928)
Ernst Reinhold Schmidt apprenticed to J. Kretzschman from 1871 to 1874. He worked for Bausch and Hammig in Leipzig and Riechers in Berlin. In 1880, he established himself independently in Markneukirchen. He developed the workshop into a large and productive business with his brother, employing a substantial staff. Gold medals were awarded to him at Vienna in 1892.
