Hugh Wyatt Cooper



(1848 – 1942)

Hugh Wyatt Cooper was a watchmaker and violin maker. He was active in Glasgow from 1893. His work included Stradivari and 1744 'Sainton' Guarneri violin models. The workmanship was very fine and disciplined. He used commercial 'Whitelaw' oil varnish, which over time became rather dark, hard, and chippy. His address was 75 Dundas Street, Glasgow No. 19.
