Hidalgo Moya
Violin maker
(d. 1927)
Hidalgo Moya trained in Mirecourt, France. He established himself in Aylestone around 1890 and continued until he was stricken with ill health in 1920. Much of his work was carried out by Albert Deblaye in Mirecourt. He was a fine craftsman, exclusively producing two models: a 1715 Stradivari violin and, after 1915, the 1737 'Hart' Guarneri del Gesù violin. His work was attentive and conscientious. He co-authored Violin Tone and Violin Makers with Towry Piper, published by Chatto & Windus in London in 1916.
