Loránd Rácz
(1913 – 1989)
Loránd Rácz worked in The Hague for J. Vedral and L. Krumbholz, taking over the business in 1942. He received a diploma of honour at The Hague in 1949. He served as chairman of the NGV (Netherlands Violin Makers Association) from 1975 to 1987. He retired in 1980. He was a master restorer and connoisseur, known for Stradivari and Guarneri models, and used a good transparent red or brown varnish. Instruments made by an employee were stamped internally, while later work was fully labelled.
