Karl Rutz
(b. 1896)
Karl Rutz worked as a pupil of F. Sprenger in St. Gallen. He was employed by Pliverics in Berlin, M. Moller in Amsterdam, Vedral in The Hague, and R. Laumann in Budapest, before returning to Pliverics and establishing his own business in Basle and later in Lucerne. His work featured fine craftsmanship based on the Stradivari model and utilized a red-brown oil varnish.
