Johannes Pot was a carpenter and self-taught maker. He returned to Amersfoort, Netherlands in 1931 after working several years in Indonesia. In 1949, he received a diploma at The Hague. He was credited with 80 violins, 23 violas, and seven cellos. His personal model was derived from Stradivari. He used his own spirit varnish.
