Charles Jean Joseph Poncin was a violin and bow maker. He worked for the piano maker Erard in Paris before moving to Brussels in 1879. Under the direction of J. Marchand, he worked for Mougenot. He established himself independently in 1908 and completed approximately 40 violins and cellos, using Stradivari and Guarneri models.
