Frank Vernon Henderson was a violin and bow maker since his professional retirement in 1978. He studied under George Orth and authored How to Make a Violin Bow (Seattle, 1977). He created copies of the c. 1668 Stradivari 'Duke of Cambridge' and the 1741 Guarneri del Gesù 'Varnowich' violins, with the original instruments in his own collection. He completed 78 violins, nine violas, and six cellos. His own oil varnish was of amber and red-brown color. A total of 185 bows were completed, branded: F. V. HENDERSON.
