Frank Passa was a violin and bow maker and a pupil of S. F. Sacconi. From 1938 to 1940, he worked for Henry Ruping in Brooklyn. Around 1939, he studied bow making with Bernard Millant and Emile Ouchard. He established himself independently in New York from 1940 to 1951, with a break for military service in 1943. He worked part-time for Emile Herrmann from 1948 to 1951 under Sacconi. He joined Wurlitzer with Sacconi from 1951 to 1958. He established himself independently in San Francisco from 1958 to 1999. After 1958, he made no bows but focused on repair, restoration, and teaching. Bows were branded: F. PASSA S. F.
