Antonín Pilar I
(1881 – 1958)
Antonín Pilar apprenticed to Benjamin Patocka in Jicin. He worked for Cermak in Kutna Hora (Kuttenberg) in 1899 and for Stowasser in Graz in 1900, then spent eight years in Berlin working with Möckel. He established himself independently in Berlin in 1909 at Bülowstrasse. His sons, Anton and Jaroslav, assisted him from 1926. He produced fine work on Cremonese models, using excellent materials and demonstrating extremely accurate and sympathetic workmanship.
