Johann Gottfried Pfretzschner was the son of Johann Elias Pfretzschner (I). He was admitted to the Markneukirchen guild of luthiers in 1751. His labels described his work as copies of Stainer, although the workmanship was indistinct. Other labels indicated Cremona as the origin.
